Unique and Rustic Ranch Accommodation with Hill Country Views near San Antonio, Texas
Description of Glamping Units
Crafted from a former horse stable, this unique and rustic ranch accommodation is located in the heart of Texas Hill Country on the Edwards Plateau, which is near San Antonio and Boerne, Texas. Throughout this 600-square-foot glamping rental, guests will fix a mixture of rustic and bohemian decor, and the accommodation can sleep up to five guests, with a queen-size bed that has canopy netting, a sofa bed, and a couch. The accommodation also has a private entrance and an open and spacious setting with large expansive windows to be able to fully enjoy the view and fresh, country air.
There is a simple, three-quarter bathroom with a shower inside of the accommodation, and the toilet and amber glass bowl sink, which is on top of a galvanized tub, are new. Guests should note that the bathroom inside the accommodation only has cold water, and the sink does not have a drain. For those who want a hot bath or shower, they can use the bathroom in the main ranch house. All water for this property is well water that comes from an artesian spring that forms part of the Edwards Plateau aquifer.
Throughout the accommodation, guests will find an authentic, antique, hand-carved Mexican table and chairs; a crescent-shaped elephant table with a large, half-moon-shaped mirror; an assortment of handwoven, artesian wool rugs from India; and a huge, bright orange wool and fur rug that was imported from Greece in the 50s. Guests will be provided with a coffee maker, an ice chest, coffee, creamer, sugar, and an assortment of paper cups, plates, and plastic disposable silverware. In addition, the host provides fresh linens, towels, washcloths, toilet paper, paper towels, and trash bags.
Other amenities include a wall unit air conditioner and a faux, cast iron, electric wood stove heater to keep guests comfortable year round. If guests require the use of a full kitchen, living room, or laundry facilities, they can request access to the kitchen and living room in the main house. A television with local channels, a microwave, an ice chest, and hotspot Wi-Fi are also available upon request. Breakfast can also be provided by the host upon request.
Outside, there is an antique porch swing with a handmade, woven, Italian brocade bedspread, which is edged by hand-tied, yellow, cotton fringe. Guests will have lovely views of Texas Hill Country in the distance, including an abundance of trees and cacti, natural springs, and caves. Read More

The accommodation's personal history is that it was once used as an Old Sunday House by German immigrant farmers, where they would have a Sunday meal and bathe. (The term "Old Sunday House" is well-known in Texas but isn't universal.) Given its history, this accommodation is over 100 years old and was once part of the famous Maverick Ranch, which still exists to this day and backs up to the property.
Moreover, the road to San Antonio was officially the Old Spanish Trail, which became the Continental Highway in 1920 and spanned from San Diego, California, to Jacksonville, Florida (the southern cross country route). The historical marker for this is only a mile up the road from this glamping site. Read More
