The area of south central Texas where Helotes is located is incredibly rich in native history. Anthropologists have found artifacts from small bands of nomadic Native American tribes since 5,000 B.C. Shortly after the Texas Revolution in the 1830s, a small farming and ranching community began was developed by white settlers.
