Helotes

The area of south central Texas where Helotes is located is incredibly rich in native history. Anthropologists have found artifacts from small bands of nomadic Native American tribes since 5,000 B.C. Shortly after the Texas Revolution in the 1830s, a small farming and ranching community began was developed by white settlers. Helotes falls inside the Texas Hill Country, characterized by tons of rugged, low lying hills great for hiking or taking a horseback ride, much like a true American cowboy. The Government Canyon State Natural Area is another great place to find rugged trails and canyon hikes. To find some respite from the hot summer sun, head to Medina Lake, where you can spend the day swimming or boating. Be sure to include Helotes, Texas in your glamping trip itinerary.
