McDade

This small town in southern Texas has a lot to offer glampers looking for a quiet escape. Only 34 miles east of Austin, residents can make a quick escape from the city, and visitors flying in from out of town will be able to quickly arrive at their destination. McDade, Texas got its name from a major stockholder in the Houston and Texas Central Railroad in 1869. To cool off in the hot summer sun, head east to Somerville Lake. Put your boat in at Nails Creek State Park and spend the day cruising around the lake. Lake Somerville State Park and Trailway has 20 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
