Mountain Glamping Tent with Orchard & Farm Animals - Glamping Escape at Manzano Mountain Retreat | Torreon, New Mexico

Safari tent in Torreon, NM

4 guests • 1 bedroom • 3 beds • 1 bathroom

There’s nothing quite like winter in the Manzano Mountains — crisp air, silent nights, and starlit skies that stretch forever. The tents stay cool after dark, so pack warm clothes and blankets, and savour the simple beauty of mountain life in its purest form.

Tucked into the heart of New Mexico’s Manzano Mountains, the Mountain Retreat offers the perfect balance of rustic adventure and modern comfort. Set on 140 acres of heritage apple orchards, rolling meadows, shady pines, and endless skies, our retreat invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with what matters most.

Your private tent blends the charm of camping with the ease of a cozy hideaway. Inside, you’ll find thoughtful touches that make your stay relaxing and convenient:

- 1 queen bed + 1 twin bunk bed with fresh linens, duvets, and pillows
- Air conditioning & heating for year-round comfort
- Mini-fridge & coffee machine for cool drinks and morning brews
- Power outlets & lighting throughout
- Fresh towels for every guest
- Outdoor seating for quiet moments under New Mexico skies

Step outside to crisp mountain air, the sound of birdsong, and the scent of Ponderosa pines, a refreshing change of pace from the busy world. Families delight in meeting our cheerful farm animals, from miniature donkeys and Highland cows to peacocks and ponies. Couples discover quiet corners among the orchards and forest trails, while adventurers head into the Cibola National Forest or explore the historic Quarai Ruins. For those who prefer to slow down, afternoons by the pool or evenings around the firepit set the tone for rest and reconnection.

Food is part of the experience, too. On weekends, gather in the dining hall for a warm breakfast buffet; on weekdays, enjoy fresh, made-to-order meals. Our Mercantile is open daily with snacks, drinks, and grab-and-go items. In the fall, the orchards come alive with harvest traditions, cider pressing, and donuts that guests return for year after year.

What makes Pinetop special isn’t just the setting, it’s the atmosphere. Guests tell us they arrive carrying the weight of daily routines and leave feeling lighter, more connected, and full of memories. Children find the freedom to roam, couples reconnect under star-filled skies, and groups trade screens for laughter and shared stories.

Whether you’re here for a romantic weekend, a family adventure, or a personal retreat, the pace is unhurried, the welcome is genuine, and the mountains seem to wrap you in their calm. Come experience the beauty, laughter, and hospitality that make the Mountain Retreat unforgettable.

We’re the Dudley, Gemmer & Crabtree family — dreamers, doers, and animal lovers who call the Manzano Mountains home. In 2022, we opened the Mountain Retreat to share the beauty of our orchards, meadows, and animals with guests. Hosting weddings, retreats, and our annual Apple Harvest Festival has been a joy, and now we’re excited to welcome travelers into our glamping tents. Whether you’re here for peace, adventure, or connection, we’re honored to host you with warmth and New Mexico hospitality
