Barinas

Barinas is a state in the Venezuelan Llanos region. Consisting mostly of flatlands and rivers, those traveling through the region should look to the Venezuelan Andes as the location for the outdoor activities. An easy way to do this is by visiting the region’s namesake capital. The city of Barinas is a gateway location to a number of national parks. Just outside the city, you’ll find Parque Sierra Nevada En La Mucuy, an ideal location for hearty hikes through cloudy forests, kayaking adventures through its luscious rapids, and swimming activities in its alpine lakes. Among other scenic reserves near the Barinas includes Parque Nacional Sierra La Culata and Parque Nacional Tapo-Caparo—all reserves offering scenic locations to complement outdoor activities.
