Named after General Sidney Sherman, a general in the Texas Revolution, Sherman, Texas was established in 1848. Since then it has grown and developed into a small city. Only 70 miles north of Dallas, visitors can easily come for a quick weekend getaway, and glampers flying in from out of town won’t have to drive far to reach their final destination. It’s just south of Lake Texoma, which shares a border with Oklahoma. Since this area is humid subtropical and temperatures can be extremely high, the best thing to do is find a body of water to cool off in. Another nearby place is Lake Ray Roberts.
