Location + Surroundings
The town of Cambridge is situated deep inside the peaceful countryside of the Waikato Region. The Waikato River flows right through the center of the town, widening into Lake Karapiro a few miles to the east, providing prime spots for water-based recreation along the way. The surrounding countryside is also one of New Zealand's top destinations for cycling, with a number of trails winding through farmland, horse pastures, forests, and small villages.
In and around the town center of Cambridge, guests will find a variety of cafes, pubs, art galleries, and antique shops. Other nearby attractions include the Hobbiton movie set (only 20 mins away) of The Lord of the Rings-fame, and Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari, where guests can explore protected forests and wetlands that are home to endangered plants and birds, such as takahe, kiwi, and kaka.
The cottage is about half an hour from Hamilton, where guests will find the nearest international airport.

Guests can go hiking and bushwalking at the Sanctuary Mountain Maungatautari ecological park, where they can see endangered wildlife such as tuatara, takahe, kiwi, and kaka. On the Waikato River and Lake Karapiro, guests can go kayaking, canoeing, rowing, stand-up paddleboarding, jet skiing, water skiing, and jet boating. For biking, guests will be right in the midst of one of the top cycling destinations in New Zealand, with a variety of country roads to explore. For mountain biking, guests can head to the Waikato River Trails, the Great New Zealand River Ride, and the Te Miro Mountain Bike Park. For golfing, guests can hit the links at the Cambridge Golf Club. In and around the town center of Cambridge, guests will find a variety of options for dining, shopping, and browsing art galleries.
