Cozy Cottage near Tongariro National Park on New Zealand's North Island

This cozy cottage is located outside of Raetihi and Ohakune within the unique and inspiring landscape of the Central Plateau Area of New Zealand's North Island, an easy drive to many nature trails and parks. Running through the property is the Maunganui-a-te-Ao River, along which are various places to swim or simply enjoy a picnic beside the setting of the river. Sightings of deer and various bird species are a common occurrence at this fabulous accommodation.

Guests can participate in daily farm-life, as the cottage is located on a working sheep and cattle farm. With options to participate in daily farm activities such as feeding the chickens, as well as a 40-minute guided tour of the farm on an ATV, this rental is a fun, and participatory option. Although the hosts are very respectful of guests privacy, they are always there to provide suggestions and assistance to guests, along with delicious home-cooked meals prepared with fresh ingredients from the farm.

The farm is advantageously located close to Tongariro National Park, where guests can spend the day hiking in this World Heritage Site, with stunning attributes such as emerald-colored lakes, alpine meadows, and hot springs in the vicinity of the largest volcanoes in the North Island of New Zealand.
