There is so much to do outdoors here, guests won't know where to start. Two of New Zealand's most popular Cycle Trails meet in Roxburgh, the Clutha Gold Trail and the Roxburgh Gorge Trail. The Clutha Gold Trail is suitable for all ages and ideal for a family bike ride, guests can rent bikes and follow the Clutha River until they tire and then stop in the shade of the trees with one of the picnic baskets made by the hosts. The Roxburgh Gorge Trail is a spectacular one-day ride with historic mining relics, mountain terrain, and views of the turquoise lake below. With some serious hills, this trail is recommended to the more experienced riders. There is also rock climbing at Commissioner's Track, where there are five established climbs that are suitable for beginners through basic grades.

Out on the water, guests have a whole different set of activities available to them. There is a boat ramp at the dam, and the property also offers boat trips. Fishing, water skiing, and boating are very popular on the lake. The Clutha River is New Zealand's second longest river, where anglers can find brown trout and rainbow trout. If guests are interested, they should ask the hosts about licensing when making the booking. Kayaking is another great way to explore the waters here. On the Clutha River, there are two islands, many rock cliffs and caves, and even McKenzies Beach to visit.
