With more than 1,200 miles of footpaths winding through the surrounding High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), guests will have ample options for hiking and biking through the area's bucolic woodlands, heathlands, and farmlands.
While exploring these footpaths, guests will have many chances to do a spot of birdwatching and wildlife viewing. Guests may encounter rabbits, deer, and a variety of birds in the surrounding woods. For more birdwatching, they can head to nearby Ashdown Forest, the heathlands of which provide ecologically crucial habitats to abundant species of birds. At the former, guests can test their mettle on zip lines, Tarzan swings, and canopy bridges. On the latter, they can go swimming, fishing, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, rowing, and kayaking. For more water-based recreation, guests can head to Ardingly Reservoir, where they can go sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, powerboating, and fishing for fish such as perch, carp, and pike.
