This magnificent 7,000-square-foot luxury villa rental sits on a historic estate in Harriman, in the Hudson Valley of New York, and was built before the Civil War in 1859. Surrounded by five acres of land and beautiful nature this makes for an ideal countryside retreat for large groups or families. With seven bedrooms and five bathrooms, this huge property can accommodate up to 27 guests.
On the first floor, the main entrance leads into the mud room, guests will find one double bedroom with a double sleeper sofa as well as a full bathroom with walk-in shower. To the right of the main entrance is a fully stocked kitchen to cater for all of the guest's culinary needs, this then leads on to a large dining room which can seat up to 16 people and features a fireplace. There is also a huge living room with a fireplace and a grand piano for those who are into their music. This floor comes with two covered patios on both the front and the back side of the property to enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery.
Moving onto the second floor, guests are spoilt for choice with four more bedrooms, including the master suite. The master suite is furnished with a king-size bed, a fireplace, a full bathroom, a spacious bathtub, and a television. There are three additional bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed, two double beds as well as a double sleeper sofa to accommodate extra guests, and two more full bathrooms. This floor features a large sun room for guests to relax, a desk with writing space, four balconies and a huge entertainment room to use for special events.
The second floor has one large common bedroom with four twin beds and a bunk bed, and one private bedroom with one queen-size bed, one bunk bed, and one double sleeper sofa. This floor also comes with one full bathroom.
This outdoor area of this spacious property boasts two outdoor fire pits, two propane grills, an Olympic-size, inground swimming pool with lots of privacy, and a six-person hot tub to give guests the most enjoyable and unique stay possible. Indoors guests can find a pellet stove, three fireplaces, a washer/dryer, a fully stocked kitchen, a clothes iron, a hair curling iron, as well as two hair dryers. The town of Harriman, New York is ideally located within short distance to an endless array of fantastic activities to suit every type of guest.
For the wine lovers, there are many wineries and vineyards in the area where guests can sample the exquisite local wine, as well as several breweries for beer and cider tasting. Among those recommended are the Brotherhood Winery, one of the oldest in the USA, Palaia Vineyards, as well as the Newburgh Brewing Company for those who prefer beer to wine.

The Castle Fun Center is also a great option if the kids want to have a go at miniature golf, along with other fun activities to keep them occupied, such as rock climbing, roller skating, go-karting, and laser tag.
In addition the on-site swimming pool, guests can go for a dip in the crystal clear fresh waters or relax on the sand of Lake Welch and Tiorati Beach, located within the Harriman State Park.
Guests can also go skiing in the nearby Sterling Forest, just a 15-minute drive away, and Mountain Creek resort which offers four peaks and plenty of slopes for each level of skier or snowboarder. In only a 20-minute drive guests can visit the famous West Point Military Academy where there is the oldest museum in the United States Army, along with concerts, golfing, sporting events, a ski area, and jaw-dropping views.
The surrounding area has several farmers markets for guests to have a look round in the neighboring towns of Monroe, Cornwall, Tuxedo, and Washingtonville where they can sample some of the delicious local produce.
Summer is an ideal time of year to visit Harriman with a plethora of activities to keep everyone entertained. Guests can have a fun-filled day out at the waterparks at Mountain Creek and Splashdown Beach in Fishkill, both within 40 minutes from the house.
The New York Renaissance Fair provides guests with something a little different with entertaining performances throughout the summer months and is located just a ten-minute drive away in Tuxedo, New York. Guests can also choose from other seasonal festivals like the Monroe Cheese Festival in September, and the Forest of Fear, a scary Halloween attraction which runs in October.

There is a refundable damage deposit of $1500. This property welcomes well-trained and behaved pets, including dogs and cats. Guests are asked to not allow their pets to climb on their bed or any other furniture and are not allowed in the swimming pool or hot tub. Guests must also take care to clean up after their pets. There is an additional pet fee of $100 per pet. This property is wheelchair accessible and there is a minimum age for renters.
This is a strictly non-smoking property, and if smoking outside guests must dispose of butts appropriately in cartons in the garbage cans provided. Check in is at 4:00 pm on the day of the reservation and the time of check-out is at 11:00 am. Earlier or later check-ins are subject to an additional fee. On holiday weekends, a late check out will be charged at 50% of the nightly rate. The price listed includes the price for 8 people. There is a $50 charge per person per night after eight guests. Guests can use any of the condiments provided should they wish, however, they are the host's personal condiments so please do not throw them out as they try to fully stock the kitchen.
