Description of Glamping Units
This is a small and cozy 1870s post-and-beam restored barn and located on an estate that was the home of Woodstock artist Judson Smith, who used it for one of his studios in the 1940s and 1950s. Later, his daughters converted it to a guest cottage. The drops of paint on the floor from Smith's work more than half a century ago are preserved in the carefully restored and refinished hardwood floor.
This vintage antique post-and-beam barn has been fully renovated while still preserving its original charm—it boasts a new bath, a new kitchen, refinished antique hardwood floors, a queen-sized pillow-top mattress in the sleeping loft. The sleeping loft is accessed by a ladder. Recently, an additional queen-sized Murphy bed was added to the cottage, which most guests seem to prefer.
There is Wi-Fi, no password needed, a TV with cable, as well as a built-in DVD player.
The cottage rental overlooks a lovely trout stream and faces the river and a 75-acre park with a two-mile walking trail just on the other side of the river. The river, which goes upstream, loops back through the forest to the edge of the property. If the river is high, glampers can access the trail head by going into town, behind the outdoor Shakespeare stage next to the Woodstock town offices. Read More
