Immersive Glamping: Cabin Retreat Near Houston, MO
Cabin in Houston, MO
3 guests • 1 bedroom • 2 beds
Nestled in the Ozark Hills, we offer guests a secluded place to unwind and enjoy nature. We offer guests an off-the-grid style experience with no electricity or flushing toilets.
The property has running hot water, an outhouse, and propane lights. The cabin is accessible by a gravel trail. Four-wheel-drive, or high-profile two-wheel drive vehicles are needed to get to the cabin. We must greet all guests upon arrival to show you how to utilize the propane lights. All you need to bring is your food, ice, and clothes to enjoy this “glamping” like experience.
We do not have a A/C, therefore the cabin’s inside temperature will be close to the outdoor temp during the summer months. We provide cooking utensils, eating utensils (plates, bowls, cups, spoons, forks) Cordova cooler, citronella candles, bug spray, bedding, bath towels, dish towels, toilet paper, paper towels, and firewood. Feel free to gather kiln and wood from the surrounding forest.
If you are a floating enthusiast the cabin is a 45-minute drive to the Ozark National Scenic Riverways. If trout fishing is more your style, Montauk State Park is also a 45-minute drive. The City of Houston, Missouri is 10 minutes away. The town has many dining and shopping opportunities. We are a 23-minute drive from Piney River Brewing Company.
Allergy notice: we are pet-friendly. We follow a strict cleaning protocol but do not guarantee an allergy-free stay. Please note, because we do not have electricity, there is no air conditioning; consider your heat tolerance when booking in the extreme summer months. Fishing is allowed in our well-stocked, spring-fed pond. We provide two basic fishing poles or you can bring your own fishing gear. You are also welcome to hike the surrounding woodlands and cattle pastures.
Please understand you are staying on a working cattle ranch. You may encounter our bovine ladies on hiking excursions or an occasional tractor harvesting hay for our friends to eat in the winter.
We must greet you upon arrival, show you how to operate the propane lighting, and answer any questions you may have. After that, the cabin and surrounding woodlands are yours to enjoy. Our cabin offers a secluded getaway with 160 acres of woodlands to explore. Missouri wildlife will be your closest neighbor. You may encounter turkey, white-tailed deer, the occasional bobcat or fox, and numerous species of songbirds. We are a 23-minute drive from Piney River Brewing Company. You may park at the front door of the cabin on the circle drive.
We are very open to additional guests, but the inside space of the cabin is very limited. If you plan on additional guests joining you, include their numbers in your initial booking total. Tent camping is welcome.
