OPEN YEAR ROUND! Welcome to the White Pine Pod at Wedal Woods! We are a small lodging business hosting four comfortable Pods near the shores of Lake Superior, close to the amenities offered by the towns of Washburn and Ashland. We live here, love our home in the woods, and want to share our property with you! We aim to offer guests a unique lodging experience that is comfortable and easily accessible, blending a taste of nature with some creature comforts.

You’ll find us just a quarter-mile from the shores of Lake Superior in Washburn, WI on 35-acres of private property where nature’s wild beauty thrives. The diverse landscape is nourished by the winding Bono Creek and intentionally left largely undisturbed to offer guests an opportunity to authentically connect with its thriving ecosystem firsthand. Trails are being thoughtfully developed along existing paths, encouraging gentle exploration and providing a unique setting for those who opt for outdoor lodging experiences.

At the heart of the woods are our cozy Pods, which are available for reservations year-round. Inspected and licensed through the county and state, our Pods are built to ensure comfort, safety, and enjoyment of the property. Each offers comfortable accommodations with robust protection from the elements and essential amenities like electricity, heat in the winter months, and fiber optic internet. Outfitted with comfortable bedding, a small fridge, and a Keurig with beverage options, each Pod sleeps two and is strategically oriented to face into the woods for optimal views. Whether you bike in the summer or ski in the winter, consider booking a Pod to support your outdoor recreational goals! The property is a tranquil base for exploring the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, and the many vibrant local attractions and events in Washburn, Ashland, and Bayfield.

Come experience the Northwoods at a quieter location off the beaten path, with the convenience of restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, a myriad of unique small businesses (and of course our beautiful Lake Superior) just minutes away! Enjoy the scenery and “being in the woods” without needing much (or any!) camping gear, no extensive pre-planning or packing, or the dynamics of larger lodging operations. We designed and built our two privies to be bright, spacious, and an easy walk from each Pod. Enjoy sitting on the deck of a Pod, listening to the wind in the trees, gazing up at the stars…you may even hear our resident wildlife nearby, including owls and coyotes.

Where to go? What to do? We live here too (and love it) and are happy to offer recommendations. To celebrate our opening, we’re offering promotional nightly rates of just $150 per night (before taxes/fees) for the remainder of 2025! Consider The White Pine Pod for your next trip to Northern Wisconsin and be one of the first guests at one of Bayfield County’s newest lodging options.

Additional info

Quiet Hours: Please observe our official quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. to ensure a peaceful experience for all guests and respect for our neighbors. We also ask that you be mindful of noise levels at all other times.

Parking: All vehicles must be parked in designated areas only.

No Smoking: Smoking is prohibited anywhere on the premises.

No Open Flames: No open flames, including campfires or candles are permitted on the property.

Secure All Food and Waste: To prevent attracting wildlife, all food, beverages, and trash must be kept inside your vehicle or Pod at all times.

Leave No Trace: We ask that all guests follow the principles of “Leave No Trace” to protect the property and wildlife.

The 35 acres of our woods are intentionally kept “wild” and feature varied terrain including ridges, ravines, and uneven ground. Trails are in their early stages of development, so hiking around the property is undertaken at guests' own risk. We ask for patience as trail building is an ongoing project! Like any outing in the Northwoods, wearing sturdy shoes with good tread and bringing insect repellent is recommended.

For the property to maintain good relationships with its neighbors, it’s required that guests stay within the 35 acres of the property, the boundaries of which are marked. Please do not approach, feed, or otherwise disturb any wildlife.

Booking a reservation includes acknowledgment and acceptance of any risk and responsibility associated with staying at the property - and the release of the owners and its agents and members from any and all known and unknown liability.
