The abundance of activities available at this glamping site is sure to incite the adventurer within all. Miles upon miles of trails, both groomed and natural, are accessible right out front of the lodge. There is nothing quite as relaxing as an evening of silence in the San Juans as snow falls and the light fades away.

Less than a 20-minute drive away from arrowhead mountain lodge is the Blue Mesa reservoir. Blue Mesa offers an excellent opportunity for the amateur and hardcore fisherman alike.

There are great backcountry lines available just outside of the Arrowhead neighborhood. Avalanche gear is essential and never go alone. Some lines require skins or snowshoes to get back up, others are accessible at both top and bottom by snowmobile.

Visiting Blue Mesa Reservoir is an easy breezy 15-minute drive from the lodge. Enjoy boating, fishing, and hiking. Blue Mesa is widely regarded as the best Kokanee salmon fishery in the United States, and home to the state record Lake Trout. Guests also have access to fish in the community lakes and streams.

For animal lovers there are many opportunities to see deer, elk, moose, bear, coyote, fox, rabbit, eagles, and other birds, fish; all of the forest’s wonderful creatures, large and small, they are all here.

The Black Canyon of The Gunnison National Park is a short 35-mile drive from the lodge, where there is access to trails less than 15 minutes away for all levels of hikers. The old logging roads and some of the trails can be enjoyed on snowmobiles during the winter provide ample places to explore on foot right from the lodge as well.

This is really an all-year activity, but summer and fall give the site some of the most spectacular sights. Highly recommend taking the 10 minute trip to the top of Alpine Plateau rd for views of the San Juan Mountains, fields of wildflowers, and you might catch a shot of a bear, moose or elk.
