Description of Glamping Units
This luxurious, two-story rental can accommodate up to eight guests and features three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. The first bedroom features a queen-size bed with an en suite half bathroom, a TV, and a closet. The second bedroom also features a queen-size bed and has a large built-in closet space. The third bedroom has two twin-size beds. In the living room, there is a double sofa bed for additional guests. The other two bathrooms are full bathrooms with a shower, sink, and toilet.
The living room on the main floor features comfortable couches surrounding a wood stove. An additional living room is located downstairs and features a sofa bed, a TV, and another wood stove, a perfect space for children to have their own space. On the main floor next to the kitchen, a large dining table for six is located next to windows that look out into the forest.
The kitchen comes fully equipped with a refrigerator, microwave oven, microwave, four-burner stove, oven, and dishwasher. The wooden cabinetry has all the necessary cookware and dinnerware for family meals cooked at home. This two-story cabin features a private hot tub and has been recently updated and remodeled with mountain decor. Log walls can be found throughout the cabin for a cozy mountain feel. Complimentary Wi-Fi access, cable TV, and a wood-burning stove are all available at this glamping site. There is also a private washer and dryer unit on site.
Guests can enjoy the comfort of a wraparound deck with outdoor seating and stunning views of the forest, as well as easy access to ski slopes nearby.
Location + Surroundings
Durango is a small city in southwestern Colorado, located near the border of New Mexico. The historic background serves as a popular draw to the city center, where guests can visit the Railroad Museum featuring restored locomotives. Additionally, the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad offers rides for adults and children. The Powerhouse Science Center is also located nearby and offers interactive exhibits in a former power plant.
For natural attractions, the property is situated within the Rocky Mountains and has access to ski slopes and nearby lakes, including Electra Lake, Haviland Lake, and the Animas River. Purgatory Ski Resort is located just three miles from the property, making it an ideal destination for a winter vacation. In the winter, guests can visit Purgatory Ski Resort for skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, snow biking, sleigh rides, snowmobiling, and dog sledding. The property's close proximity to the ski resort makes access to these winter activities incredibly easy. In the summer, hiking in the forest and fishing in the nearby lakes and rivers is the perfect way to spend the day. Glampers can hike around Haviland or Electra lake and enjoy a midday picnic. In the historic town of Durango, there are many shops, restaurants, and historical sites to visit with the family. The Music in the Mountains classical music festival occurs at the Purgatory Resort in the summertime, as well.
After a long day of exploring and enjoying the outdoor activities in the area, guests can take a relaxing soak in the private hot tub or enjoy the views of the Hermosa cliffs on the deck chairs. Glampers can end their night with a movie or a good book by the fireplace. In the summertime, glampers can have an outdoor barbecue on the grill on the deck, surrounded by the beautiful scenery.
