This mountainside retreat is tucked away in the gorgeous Colorado wilderness near Red Mountain and is ideal for those planning a family-friendly getaway. With two bedrooms, a loft, and two bathrooms, this rural log cabin rental can accommodate up to eight guests.
Each bedroom features a plush queen-size bed. Additionally, there are two comfortable queen-size beds in the loft, as well as a private balcony where guests can sip on simmering coffee in the early morning. Each bed is outfitted with crisp cotton sheets to ensure guests lull off into a peaceful night’s sleep after mountain biking through the rugged terrain. Each bathroom features a combination shower/bathtub, a sink, and a toilet, as well as bath towels.
With a snug sofa and a fireplace, the living room is the perfect place to curl up with a good book or take an afternoon nap. In the fully-equipped kitchen, glampers will find everything they need to make their favorite recipes, including a range cooker, a microwave, a refrigerator, and a coffeemaker. There is also a dishwasher for easy cleanup. Guests can enjoy their meals at the dining table with seating for six.
Outside, there is a spacious porch with garden furniture where guests can leaf through a magazine, admire a gorgeous sunset, or talk late into the night as the stars shine in the midnight sky.

1. Water & Fishing Activities
Since the resort sits right on the river, water activities are literally at your doorstep.
Private Fishing: The Texan Resort offers private fishing access on the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River, which runs directly through the property. It’s a prime spot for brown and rainbow trout.
Lake San Cristobal: A 5-minute drive away is Colorado’s second-largest natural lake. You can rent canoes, kayaks, and rowboats or go shore-fishing. In winter, this becomes a hub for ice fishing and pond hockey.
Boating & SUP: The lake is ideal for stand-up paddleboarding and motorboating during the summer months.
2. Off-Roading & "The Alpine Loop"
Lake City is one of the main gateways to the Alpine Loop Backcountry Byway, a 65-mile rugged road system.
Jeep & ATV Rentals: You can rent 4WD vehicles within walking distance of the resort. These allow you to reach high-altitude ghost towns like Animas Forks and Capitol City.
