Elk, deer, eagles, and black bears are the only neighbors, and this vacation rental is tucked away in a cottonwood grove under the dramatic peaks of Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
This property is about four hours from the cities of Denver and Albuquerque, two and a half hours from Colorado Springs and Santa Fe and 30 minutes from northeast of Alamosa. This all-inclusive ranch offers a variety of activities for guests at no extra charge. Horse-lovers will delight in the opportunity to explore the San Luis Valley and Great Sand Dunes National Park by horseback, as well as learn how to work and move cattle. Other activities include birding, wildlife viewing, geology tours, and nature hikes, and guests can even go fly fishing in one of the local streams for an additional cost. With wranglers and ranch staff on site, glampers have the opportunity to help with ranch projects to get a true feel for life on a working ranch, and guests can also take a yoga class for a more relaxing retreat.
After a confirmed booking, guests will receive a pre-arrival profile where they can outline what they hope to do and experience while visiting the ranch. The host, then creates a tailor-made itinerary from this document.
Some of the activities on site include the following:
Ride amongst the 2,500 head bison herd, through preserved meadows and grasslands or enjoy plenty of riding freedom while improving guests; horsemanship skills in an authentic ranch environment. Guests can also get their hands dirty in the day-to-day running of the ranch, moving livestock, general ranch work and learning about their holistic management practices. Glampers can participate in a variety of workshops and special weeks including branding calves in the spring, high mountain pack trips and art workshops. Lastly, ride through and explore the Great Sand Dunes National Park, home to the tallest inland dunes in North America
Glampers can participate in a photo safari that puts them up close to wildlife including elk, coyotes and birds, the magnificent sand dunes or the Sangre de Cristo mountains, bird watch in one of Colorado’s most important migratory pathways, or hike up to a high mountain lake. Those looking to pamper themselves will enjoy relaxing massages and fishing enthusiasts will love taking a full or half day on a fly-fishing trip on the Arkansas River with world-class anglers. Adventure seekers will enjoy a whitewater raft down the Arkansas River in Salida, Colorado, available between the months of May and mid-August. -
