The small community of Foster is partly within the city of Sweet Home in Oregon’s Linn County. It sits beside Foster Lake, with the South Santiam River to the north. Sweet Home is occasionally referred to as ‘the Gateway to the Santiam Playground’ thanks to its close proximity to many rivers, lakes, and the Cascade Mountains. Green Peter Lake lies to the northeast, with the Middle Santiam Wilderness and Santiam State Forest beyond that. Due to all this amazing green space, hiking is an incredibly popular pastime in this area, with a great many trails suitable for all levels of experience. If you’re a keen hiker, be sure to bring your boots along with you! There are also many trails taking visitors to one of several waterfalls, such as McDowell Creek Falls and Majestic Falls.
