The property manager Tom is also an owner, easily reached by email, text, phone or direct message.
It has a completely private rural setting in the woods. This property took our breath away the first time we pulled around the bend, and still makes our hearts skip a beat every time we open the gate and look around.
We own a couple other lakefront houses, and Tom manages a bunch more ... but this place with its 10 secluded acres creates a one of a kind experience that allows any group or family to spread out and enjoy the best of Norris Lake along with all the best of hanging out on a private retreat with your favorite people in a paradise packed with fun and natural beauty.
Can't see a neighbor anywhere, gate can lock behind you, and the place is yours to enjoy and explore, discovering creeks and woods as well as relaxing by the custom built firepit, soaking in the 6-person hot tub, hanging out under the covered pavilion, on the decks and patios or out by Doc's Hideaway, the converted double carport that will boast an outdoor bar, games, and more.
With kayaks to take down to the marina and a covered slip (D32) for your watercraft or any you want to rent ... all the best Norris Lake has to offer is just minutes away.
Parks, museums, trails, shopping, golfing, horseback riding, ATV trailheads, dining, hiking, shopping and so much more to do all around the four counties surrounding the lake ... or make the drive to Knoxville (1.25 hours), Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg (2.25 hours) and many more attractions in the surrounding towns and cities.
DIRECTIONS:
The cabin address is 635 Bailey Drive / Speedwell, TN 37870. There are a series of Tennessee Home Finder's signs to guide you toward the property once you pass Flat Hollow Marina. Map of the lake is attached to the welcome email you'll receive, and we're located almost exactly 2 miles past the marina.
ABOUT THE DRIVE THERE:
If coming from the north, GPS may want to take you via 25W (just across the TN/KY border in Jellico) - it's a scenic old backroad that follows a pretty creek and has some great overhanging bluffs to pass under on your way down. But if you get car sick, or plan to stop for groceries while coming through town, we suggest taking I-75 south to the Jacksboro / Caryville / LaFollette exit 134. Take 63 eastbound off the interstate.
Note: The local police crack down pretty tight on out of town license plates - you might want to keep an eye on the speed limit!
GROCERIES / SHOPPING:
You can go to the Jacksboro Walmart to get your groceries if it helps - it’s about 25 more minutes from there out to the cabin. There's also a Food City about 2 miles further east on the opposite side, and a Food Lion on 63 about another 5 miles down the road from Walmart, on the same side.
If shopping for the best grilling cuts besides the grocery stores, there's a good local butcher shop at Hollingsworth Meat Market - located about a 1/4 mile off 63 at 407 Chestnut Street / LaFollette 37766
Feel free to stop by for a bathroom break or a quick tour of our Tennessee headquarters - you'll be close to it on 63 (also called Central Avenue as you come through Lafollette) - at 314 W Central Avenue at the corner of 9th street and 63 at traffic light #6. See note below on parking, as there's room to park and carpool from the office upper lot with prior permission if needing more space than the house will accommodate. Call or text Tom to request an access combo.
DIRECTIONS (resumed):
Once back on the road (63 east) or just pushing straight through, continue east on Hwy 63 to right on Mercury Dr (just past mile marker 17 - it’s on the right, and you’ll see a sign pointing to Overlook Bay and Flat Hollow Marina). Make a left turn onto Old 63/Middlesboro Highway, then a right turn on Flat Hollow Road. You'll pass a road called Bailey Lane - DON'T go down there!
Continue til you come to a right turn at the fork onto Flat Hollow Marina Road. From there you'll follow the road about a mile - you'll see a left turn-off to the marina, but bear right as you take the curved road past the marina and up the hill for two miles, where you may follow the Tennessee Home Finder's directional signs. About one mile past the marina, you'll pass a big open trailer parking area, as a landmark. Continue bearing right every time you can -- that'll get you there.
As you reach the property you will see a yard sign (solar-lighted after dark) on the right side - take that turn to approach the brown gate. On the left side post you will see a combo lock attached - combination is 1369. Use the key inside to unlock the padlock. You are welcome to leave the gate open while you're there, or keep it locked if it feels more secure ... but please do lock it behind you whenever no one will be present at the cabin.
CHECKING IN
Your Check-in time is 3 pm, but earlier access may be allowed with advance written notice, if off-season and another renter has not immediately preceded your stay. Costs may apply.
PARKING:
There is space for 12-15 vehicles all around and down the driveway - best parking of any rental on the lake, we think! There is loads of additional parking for vehicles in the C Lot about 1/8 mile past the marina, and a parking area for ATV or watercraft trailers halfway between the marina and the cabin.
NO ATVs can be run on the property, please, except to take the driveway on the way out to a day's run elsewhere in the mountains.
The office at 314 W. Central (state route 63) in Lafollette TN 37766 also has extra space for parking if you want to leave a couple vehicles parked there on the upper lot and carpool out to the cabin. Please let Tom know if you do that, so we are aware of what vehicles belong to which renters.
UPON ARRIVAL / SETTLING IN
A check- in list should be on the counter or refrigerator when you arrive. Please take a moment to walk through the house, initialing that all is well upon your arrival. If you have any questions or concerns, please call or text Tom immediately.
Uncover outdoor chairs and tables as you wish. Our cleaners should have blown off the leaves before your arrival. Please lower umbrella(s), cover fire tables and put cushions away (dry) in the deck storage bins each night in case of rain to keep them clean, dry and in good condition. Outdoor games at the carport may include 2 cornhole sets, ping pong, Kan Jam, dartboard and darts, Tiki Toss basketball or golf versions, along with 3 bourbon barrel tables and seating to enjoy.
The propane grill is hard-lined for unlimited cooking next to the front patio, along with a grilling station table ... but there's also an Oklahoma Joe grill under the picnic pavilion ... bring your own charcoal or pellets and starting fluid if wanting to cook out over there. There's also an ice bin on the pavilion as well.
We have a separate rental agreement that supersedes air B and B policy to sign upon acceptance, most notably including a no refund cancellation policy and minimum reservation age of 26. It is also required that guests purchase a $59 damage protection plan through CSA; additional information provided upon reservation.
We also have boat and jet ski watercraft available for rent by separate reservation agreements, available in season only and options at several other rentals we manage - first booked, first served - restrictions and age limit apply.
