The airy loft commands stunning views from its second level floor-to-ceiling windows, while enjoying peace on the 2-acre wooded property. The perfect country getaway, in style!

* Spacious living room

* 2 king bedrooms
* Large covered patio
* Privacy w/self check-in
* Amazing city & sky views
* 2 min to downtown

The Loft is part of the property, where guests enjoy seclusion and relaxation on a wooded hilltop with views for miles. Downtown Commercial Avenue is less than 5 minutes away for dining & shopping.

Sleeps 15 if you book the entire retreat with the home next door. See Mid-Century Modern masterpiece and Hollywood Glam Suite in my other listings.

The Loft occupies the entire second floor and has been completely renovated from its late-1950s origins into a modern beauty. The mid-century aesthetic has been kept, while bringing in contemporary amenities with fresh colors and stylish fixtures. Light pours through the floor to ceiling, wall-to-wall windows on two sides over gleaming hardwood floors. The spacious living room has two ceiling fans, a television with Roku and streaming channels, and a variety of games to enjoy.

It opens to a full kitchen that includes a large, granite-topped island with seating. You will find everything you need including pots and pans, dishes, silverware, glassware, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and coffee and tea supplies.

Two large bedrooms offer top-of-the-line, king-size gel posturepedic mattresses with luxury linens, ceiling fans and ample closet space. The front bedroom offers a wall-mounted TV with WiFi streaming services. The full bathroom includes a large walk-in shower supplied with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.

Everything is very light, open and airy, and completely modern — a true architectural gem. The Loft is the entire upstairs floor with its own separate, private entrance. Downstairs is a separate one-bedroom guest suite which can also be rented. Both units are completely separate with their own entrances on different sides of the house.

NOTE: This loft is on the second floor of the house, accessible by one flight of indoor stairs. You MUST climb stairs to reach the unit!

All of this sits on 3+ acres filled with towering oak trees and offering amazing city skyline views (the nighttime lights are magical). Sunrises & sunsets are stunning, as is the clear country night sky, perfect for stargazing. The expansive front porch is lovely for the views or bird & wildlife watching while enjoying some coffee or wine, and you will find a pair of high-quality binoculars to assist.

Available for your outdoor use is a small charcoal grill. There is a wonderful disc swing hanging from one of the many large trees that cover the property and a collection of outdoor recreation such as ladderball, cornhole, racquetball and skeeball. As far as child safety, there are outlet plugs installed and a baby/toddler gate for the top of the stairs is available. There is plenty of parking in the huge circular driveway for boats, ATVs, trailers or even campers/RVs (no hook-ups available).

The location is very private — the dead-end residential street has only two other homes (one of which is also part of the property—see my other listings), spread far apart. The effect is seclusion & relaxation, while being minutes from anything you need in town.

The upstairs loft is exclusively for booked guests, with separate/private access. Other guests may be staying in the downstairs one-bedroom suite (separate access at the other side of the house).

I live off-site - guests have complete privacy, but I am available should there be any questions or anything needed. I have a local manager and I'm fully available by telephone or message/email for anything you might need. The local person is on call should there be anything that requires immediate, on-site assistance. A guidebook to the property and the adorable town of Coleman is in the house.

You've heard of Marfa, right? Don't want to drive all the way out there? Coleman is destined to be the next Marfa (but, shh, let's keep the secret!). This cute small town is the perfect Hill Country / West Texas getaway. It's undergoing a renaissance with a wine bar (second on the way), fantastic restaurants and unique boutique stores (seriously, the dining and shopping have been written up in magazines, including Texas Monthly). It's also home to a fab mid-century modern store with high-quality pieces and a vintage vinyl shop, and longtime standbys like the Owl Drugstore, with its old-fashioned soda fountain (the second oldest in Texas, serving since 1923) and the best burgers around! The main street, Commercial Avenue, is only two minutes down the road from Stardust.

Nearby outdoor recreation and sportsmanship is plentiful, with 6 major lakes including O.H. Ivie, Hord's Creek, & Lake Brownwood State Park. The area is known as the "Hunting Capital of Texas."

The retreat itself is on an extremely quiet, private residential street that sits high up on a hill overlooking the town of Coleman. The street is a dead-end road with only two other homes - the next-door the House that is also part of the property, and one other private home past us at the end of the street. The property is spread over three-and-a-half rolling, wooded acres; therefore the entire property is very peaceful, quiet and private.

Some of the top spots to check out around town are:

* The Owl Drugstore & Grill (second-oldest soda fountain in Texas!)
* Rancho Loma Vineyards RLV Wine Bar
* Rancho Pizzeria
* Black Cur Steak
* Bonneville Mid-Century Antiques & Vinyl Record Shop
* Prickly Pear Boutique & Cafe
* Sinclair Bakery
* Cactus Coffee
* Lake Coleman, O.H. Ivie & Hord's Creek

You need a car. PLENTY of parking at the house, even for campers, ATVs, boats, trailers, etc.

Absolutely no smoking inside the house! If any evidence of smoking is found, guest will be charged an additional $150 cleaning fee plus any damages from smoke or burn marks.

We do allow pets with an additional fee, and reserve the right to approve or not. If you wish to stay with a pet please send an inquiry message with information about your pet for approval BEFORE booking.

We DO NOT give refunds for inclement weather, travel advisories or personal reasons for cancellations. If you have a concern about any issue affecting your trip, we suggest you purchase travel insurance.

There is an additional twin-size rollaway bed (with thick, comfy mattress) and a baby crib available for a child or additional guest. PLEASE REQUEST EITHER OF THESE THINGS BEFORE YOUR STAY.
I am a huge MCM aficionado, and live in a mid-century home myself. When I bought these houses, I realized a dream of not only having such amazing, authentic MCM homes, but also of being able to share their treasures with others. My goal is to create a peaceful retreat in this lovely, revitalizing town of Coleman, in a truly unique setting. I have personal ties to the town — my mother's side of the family hails from neighboring Brownwood, and my mom lived in Coleman for a few years as a child in the 50s. I chose the name "Stardust" because it was my grandparents' song.
If ever the term "time capsule" were to be used to describe a house, it would be appropriate of the two properties that make up. To stroll through the property is to step almost seamlessly into the 1950s, as if you were stepping inside a museum.
If ever the term "time capsule" were to be used to describe a house, it would be appropriate of the two properties that make up. I purchased this property because of my love of all things mid-century, and because I have personal ties to the area (my grandparents and mother lived in Coleman when my mother was a child).

The House was built in the late 1950s by the McDaniel family. The House as it is today was once the garage and loft apartment of the original house, built by J.E. McDaniel as a place for him and his cronies to drink whiskey, smoke cigars, and discuss running the town. Sadly, the main house was eventually left vacant for so long it had to be torn down. The garage apartment, however, was structurally sound and completely renovated down to the studs in 2011.

Once renovated, the House was completely brand-new on the inside, yet retaining its mid-century aesthetic and decor. It was also part of the Terrace Inn B&B, until I purchased it in 2019. Since that time, it was a vacation rental property available on Airbnb, and today is part of here.
