The best places to stay in Texas: glamping for groups
Set near Glen Rose, Texas, this vacation rental is set on a working ranch and offers two bedrooms and three bathrooms and can sleep up to eight guests. This cabin has been completely restored and made energy efficient. The host has added an upstairs deck that catches great cross breezes, overlooks the cliffs, and faces west.
This two-story cabin rental is made up of a total of 1,600 square feet of living space, including its porches and decks. Guests will have one queen-size bed, one trundle bed made up of two singles, and two sets of bunk beds. There are two half bathrooms and one full bathroom. This cabin offers an open floor plan, and there are only four inside doors: two to the bathrooms, one to the kid’s bedroom, and one to the screened-in porch.
The upstairs, with the queen-size and trundle beds in the open loft, has a half-bath, opens onto the deck, looks out onto the downstairs living area, no doors! The full bath with walk-in shower room has all of the closets (so no need to lug your bags upstairs!) and laundry room. High-speed internet is available, but the hosts purposefully did not put any TVs in the accommodation. However, they have included games and books about local nature.
This property offers dishes for 12 guests and plenty of cooking equipment for preparing meals. The kitchen also includes tea, coffee, and spices, as well as cleaning supplies including, paper towels, and plastic bags. Please note that there is no microwave or dishwasher. Outside, guests will find a gas grill, with propane and a porch with seating.
Guests here will have all the amenities they would find at home and more. This property offers several different types of accommodations and all differ in size and facilities. Each house has a washer and dryer. The hosts stock coffee, tea, and cooking basics. Each house has a propane grill with a second tank. While the hosts do have fire pits, they are often under burn bans due to our remote location, and having Fossil Rim Wildlife Center as the downwind neighbor! There is plenty of parking, even for boats and campers!

We rest our houses 3 to 24-hours before cleaning (our post inspection and garbage removal is done with masks and gloves), with at least 24 hours after guests (if something happens and we have to go in, we go in with masks and gloves). We have supplemented our natural, non-toxic cleaners with EPA approved disinfectants/sanitizers, and a spray we use on our way out. We also leave these and other supplies for guests to use, should they feel the need. We wash all linens and bedcovers between guests. When we can, we hang bedcovers and linens outside for that extra solar cleanse. We have removed things, and changed things (pillows, throws, toys, extra spices, condiments in fridge) we didn't feel we could disinfect thoroughly. We monitor ourselves for signs of Covid-19, and when off the ranch, we wear masks, spatial distance and avoid crowds, theaters, restaurants, etc.
