About this place

Reconnect with nature in this dark sky preserve. Just 20 miles from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, this glamping experience is unlike any other. Experience modern luxury while you enjoy the great outdoors. The dome is completely off grid and is 100% powered by the sun. Enjoy a camping experience without the hassle of setting up a tent and forfeiting the comforts of home! The dome is heated and has running water, flush toilets, and electricity!

Far removed from the highway and the rest of the world, this dome offers an exceptional view of the Milky Way Galaxy you won't find anywhere else.

Secluded among the Pinyon and Pine trees in the high desert is this beautiful and luxurious geodesic dome. Star Garden is located about 2.5 miles off highway 64 down a dirt road and about 20 minutes from the entrance of The Grand Canyon South Rim.

The dome sleeps two people comfortably on a queen bed. There is a mini-fridge for you to store food. We are completely off the grid-- and while there is an electric kettle and a small oven, for heating food, there is no kitchen and you should expect minimal food cooking abilities.

Please do not come expecting to use electric heaters, hair dryers, or make extravagant meals as our solar set up and space constrictions cannot handle that much power draw. If you are using a heating device (kettle) do not simultaneously turn on the oven. Wait for one to finish before using the other.

On sunny/hot summer days the dome can get as hot as 85°f. Most guests use this time to explore the Grand Canyon or take a trip to town. At night it does get cold here in the desert. We have a phenomenal easy-to-operate propane heater but we recommend bringing warmer clothes October-March as it will be cold outside.

The best vehicles to drive to the property are an all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive vehicle. Especially during the monsoon season (late June through September) and after heavy snow. The road here has many potholes that will develop into puddles in bad weather. If you see a puddle, drive around it on the higher ground. Don't drive through it; they could be deeper than you think!

This is a luxury geodesic dome tent. It is insulated but still a tent.
There are 120v outlets with USB. The heating and air conditioning (swamp cooler / water cooled air conditioner) are great off-grid amenities. Please plan for about 20 degrees increase from the heater and about 10 degrees decrease from the cooler. In the winter it can on occasion drop down to 10 degrees at night, the heater will bring the dome temp up to 30 degrees. We will provide an extra blanket but guests should still pack accordingly.

• Propane grill
• Fire pit for guests to have conversation drink/eat, and enjoy themselves around
• Our property manager lives on site for immediate assistance with anything you may need, but is very respectful of your privacy.
• Accessible for most types of vehicles, but on very rainy days (rare) the roads can get muddy and hard to maneuver.
• Smoking is allowed anywhere on the property, but is prohibited inside of the dome. Please dispose of cigarette butts in trash cans and not on the ground.

Other things to note
Please remember this unit is not a house. It is an off grid set up designed for those who are looking for a secluded camping/stargazing experience and want to do so without forfeiting comfort
