About this place
Close To Nature this charming rustic accommodation makes for an easy nature-filled escape.
Quality bedding and linen ensure a restful night's sleep, relax in the open plan kitchen, dining, living or curl up with a book in the cozy sunroom. This glamping destination is sunny and warm with a feature stone fireplace - fully self-contained including a deep and luxurious hot tub nestled in the garden - the perfect spot to while away the hours under the starry skies.
We are a one-hour drive from Christchurch International Airport & located just off the popular scenic route heading down South to Lake Tekapo, Queenstown making this the perfect Canterbury stop off.
The property is set on the same foothills farm that also hosts the famous Washpen Falls Adventure Walk. The Chalet is located at the very beginning (car park) of the Washpen Falls Adventure Walk. This is a 2-hour loop track offering majestic scenery. You'll go through lush native bush to a volcanic canyon reserve, experience picturesque views across the Canterbury plains, and see sparkling spring-fed creeks and stunning waterfalls.
The property is next to the walkway toilets. The walkway may be busy on some occasions i.e. public holiday weekends.
This glamping site is well situated to explore all the local region has to offer. Windwhistle is the gateway to the Lake Coleridge Back Country with numerous lakes, walkways, hunting and fishing, horse trekking, scenic drives, heliskiing, mountain biking, jet boating on the famous Rakaia River, or playing golf at one of the popular courses. Keen skiers will love the fact it's just a 15-minute drive to the Mt Hutt Ski Field access road. A number of other ski fields are also in the region including Mt Olympus, Craigburn, Temple, Porter Heights, Mt Cheesman, and Broken River
It's a good idea to stock up on groceries, although if you want a break from cooking you are spoilt for choice with a variety of dining options in Methven, or treat yourself to breakfast, lunch or dinner at Terrace Downs Resort in just a short 10-minute drive.
