Nestled in the woods of the historic estate to which it belongs, this pet-friendly cottage rental is located near Media, Pennsylvania, and can accommodate four guests for a getaway to the peaceful countryside of Brandywine Valley. Inside the cottage, guests will find two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a half bathroom, a living room, a dining room, and a kitchen.

The first bedroom features a king-size bed and a full ensuite bathroom with a combination bathtub/shower, while the second bedroom is furnished with a queen-size canopy bed. In the other full bathroom, guests will find a slipper bathtub and a separate walk-in shower. Linens and towels are provided.

In the living room, guests will find a sofa, a pair of wingback chairs, an electric fireplace, and a television with a DVD player and cable. The fully-equipped kitchen comes with an oven, a stove, a refrigerator, a dishwasher, a microwave, and a coffeemaker, along with a supply of coffee, tea, and condiments. In the formal dining room, guests will find a six-person dining table.

Other amenities include Wi-Fi, a washer and dryer, and a complimentary gourmet breakfast served at the main building of the estate, which contains a number of shared facilities to which guests will enjoy full access, such as a billiards room and a collection of games. Outside, guests will find a porch with seating, a hammock, and a small fenced-in yard that is well-suited for dogs.

Inside their accommodation, guests will enjoy amenities such as Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a private bathroom, a coffeemaker, daily housekeeping, and a flat-screen television with a built-in DVD player and cable.

Around the estate, guests will enjoy access to a variety of shared facilities and amenities, such as a billiards room, a dining room, a terrace with outdoor seating, a book-filled library, off-street parking, charging stations for electric cars, a 24-hour guest pantry, and a collection of DVDs, magazines, and games. A fax, a scanner, a printer, and a copier are also available for light use.

The menu changes from day to day; some examples of what might be on offer include praline bananas, baked pears in an almond cream sauce, waffles with a bourbon pecan maple syrup, and eggs roulade with spinach and sun-dried tomatoes. This accommodation is set within a historic bed and breakfast estate that is located in Chester Heights, Pennsylvania, where it is perched on top of a hill overlooking the Brandywine Valley. Dating back to 1856, the estate is surrounded by seven acres of landscaped property, presenting guests with a charming mixture of horse pastures, wooden rail fences, majestic trees, lush gardens, stately lawns, a peaceful koi pond with a cascading waterfall, a stone terrace with a nymph fountain, and an English rose and lavender garden path.

In the surrounding Brandywine Valley and Chester County, guests will find an equally splendid countryside of rolling hills, meandering streams, enchanting gardens, state parks, and nature preserves, strewn between which guests will also find a panoply of wineries, breweries, restaurants, art galleries, antique shops, boutiques, historic sites, museums, and golf courses. Whether they are seeking a getaway to the great outdoors, a rural escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, some indulgence in the finer things of life, or a combination of the three, guests will find plenty of options within a short distance from the estate, some highlights of which are described below.

At Ridley Creek State Park, guests can explore 13 miles of multi-use trails that wind through 2,600 acres of meadows, wetlands, a creek corridor, and an assortment of old-growth and new-growth forests filled with beech, hickory, maple, sycamore, tulip poplar, and walnut trees, some of which date all the way back to colonial times. These environments, in turn, provide habitats for white-tailed deer, foxes, raccoons, rabbits, squirrels, great blue herons, pileated woodpeckers, and a large variety of songbirds. Another 17 miles of hiking trails can be found at the adjacent Tyler Arboretum, which, together with the park, have been designated by the Audubon Society as an Important Bird Area.

At the park, guests will also find the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation, which has been in operation for more than 300 years and today provides visitors with an opportunity to experience farm life in the pre-American Revolution era. For more trails that run through woodland, wetland, and meadow environments, guests can visit the nearby Wawa Preserve and Brandywine Creek State Park.

At Longwood Gardens, guests can stroll through 1,077 acres of diverse gardens, arboretums, and meadows, along with a variety of conservatories. Gardens can also be found around some of the area's cultural and historical attractions, such as the Hagley Museum, the Nemours Mansion, the Newlin Grist Mill, and the Winterthur Museum, Garden, and Library. Other historical and cultural attractions in the area include the Brandywine Battlefield, Valley Forge National Park, and the Brandywine River Museum. A number of restaurants can be found in the nearby town of Media, while half a dozen wineries are set along the Brandywine Valley Wine Trail.

The estate is only 35 minutes away from Philadelphia, where guests will find the nearest international airport, along with numerous attractions, such as the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

For hiking, biking, jogging, horseback riding, and cross-country skiing, guests will find trails at Ridley Creek State Park, where they can also fish for trout in the creek for which the park is named and go sledding on a large grassy slope that is located near the park office. For more leisurely enjoyment of the botanical side of nature, guests will find a variety of gardens and arboretums to explore in the surrounding area, such as the Longwood Gardens, the Tyler Arboretum, and the gardens surrounding the Hagley Museum, the Nemours Mansion, the Newlin Grist Mill, and the Winterthur estate.

Smoking is not permitted inside the property. It is allowed on the front loggia and on the grounds.

Pets may be permitted with an additional fee per night per dog but the hosts should be contacted prior.

The standard check-in period is between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM on weekdays and between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Guests can arrive after this period, but they will need to self-check in to their accommodation if they do so.

Although the bed and breakfast is geared toward adults, well-behaved children over the age of 10 are welcome in the main building. Children over the age of six are permitted in the cottages, but if they are under the age of 10, the cottage's kitchen will be stocked so that guests can have a self-catered breakfast.

A cleaning fee and additional taxes may apply.

All utilities are included and tax does not apply to monthly rentals. Daily Housekeeping and Breakfast only apply to the Daily rental rate, it does not apply to week-long or monthly stays. Monthly stays require a 30-day cancellation. Week-Long or Monthly stays canceled 30 days or more prior to arrival will incur a 50% cancellation fee; cancellations made 30 days or less prior to arrival are non-refundable. Stays under 7 days require a 15-day cancellation. If the guest cancels 15 days or more prior to arrival, they will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations made 14 days or less prior to arrival are non-refundable.
