Cozy Bed and Breakfast Accommodation with a Shared Kitchen near Ohiopyle State Park

Set on a peaceful, 30-acre property in the scenic Laurel Highlands, this accommodation is located in the countryside of Confluence, Pennsylvania, where it is situated in the Ursina borough of Somerset County. Just two miles to the west, guests will find the confluence for which the area is named—the threefold junction of the Youghiogheny River, the Casselman River, and Laurel Hill Creek, the latter of which is just a three-minute stroll away from the accommodation. The latter is part of a bed and breakfast compound that consists of two buildings--the main residence (in which the accommodation is located) and a cottage that is next door to it.

About five minutes to the west, guests will find the 150-mile Great Allegheny Passage trail skirting along the western bank of the Youghiogheny River. Following the trail and the river northward, guests will reach Ohiopyle State Park, which encompasses 20,500 acres of rugged terrain blanketed in verdant forests full of oak, hickory, and tulip trees. Holding the distinction of being a designated Important Mammal and Bird Area, the park is home to an abundance of wildlife, including black bears, bobcats, white-tailed deer, river otters, kingfishers, ospreys, and mergansers. The park also contains the Ferncliff Peninsula Natural Area, which is a designated National Natural Landmark because of its unique biodiversity, as well as a number of picturesque waterfalls, including the 20-foot Ohiopyle Falls and 30-foot Cucumber Falls.

Other nearby natural attractions include Bear Run Nature Reserve, State Game Lands 51 and 111, and Laurel Ridge State Park, all of which are contiguous with Ohiopyle State Park. Following the Great Allegheny Passage to the south, guests will find yet another attraction: Youghiogheny River Lake, which is a popular recreation area. Teeming with trout year-round, the waters of the lake are especially attractive to fishers, while its 16-mile length entices power boating and water-skiing enthusiasts.

A number of other attractions can be reached within a half hour or so drive of the accommodation, including the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed residences of Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob, the historic French and Indian War site of Fort Necessity National Battlefield, the highest point in all of Pennsylvania at Mount Davis, and three resorts with year-round activity options: Wisp Resort at Deep Creek Lake, Seven Springs Mountain Resort, and the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort.

Within an hour's drive, guests can also reach the Flight 93 National Memorial, Laurel Caverns, and Fort Ligonier. The accommodation is about an hour and a half from Pittsburgh, where the nearest international airport is located.
