The city of Jacksonville is only a 20-minute drive north of the property and is home to plenty of dining options and shopping opportunities, as well as some historic sights for visitors to see. The city of Springfield is just under an hour's drive from the property and boasts popular destinations such as the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, the Lincoln Tomb, and the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, all in addition to a plethora of shops, activities, and eateries. The city of St Louis, Missouri, is an hour and a half's drive south-west of the property.

Guests will enjoy a wide range of activities in close proximity to this rental. From the front door, there are a number of scenic walking and biking paths to explore the property from, as well as a lovely pond right in the backyard, where guests can cast a line and relax. In addition, guests will be able to enjoy watching nature (including butterflies, fireflies, and deer), stargazing, and birding all from the comfort of the property. During the year, there are at least 100 different bird species that visit the property, as well as many dragonfly and butterfly species, at least five species of fireflies, deer, rabbits, mink, coyotes, fox, and more.

A short drive will take guests to nearby Jacksonville where there are lots of restaurants and shops to enjoy. Guests should be sure to enjoy a nice meal at Muggy's, Brick House, Norma's, or Leo's. For a fun day trip, the city of Springfield is a great option and host to several tourist destinations. The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, the Lincoln Tomb, and the Lincoln Home National Historic Site are all located in Springfield and are must-sees for visitors. If guests have time, they should also try and visit the Old State Capitol or the Illinois State Museum, the latter of which boasts some exciting exhibits for adults and children.
