La Porte
This tiny town in northern California reached its heydey in the 1870s and 1880s during the California Gold Rush. The ghost town of Grass Flat still remains, and visitors can see the remaining barren landscape. Surrounded by the Plumas National Forest, a great place to spend the day among rugged natural features. Take a motorcycle ride through the forest, or go hiking or mountain biking to explore the trails. The Little Grass Valley Reservoir lies to the north, an excellent place to go boating, fishing, or swimming in the summertime. La Porte is recognized as the birthplace of downhill ski racing, so be sure to hit the slopes if you visit during the winter. Make sure to include La Porte, California on your next glamping adventure.
