Additional info

Discover an abundance of local plants and wildlife while wandering through trails canopied with pine, cedar, and madrone trees. Waterfalls and swimming holes are available within a five-minute drive, with many more hiking trails and river access points within a 30-45-minute drive. The location in the mountains will take you far outside the hustle and bustle of the city, but don't worry—there is a small store just down the road with many essentials, as well as a gas station, organic market, and cafe within 30 minutes' drive.

Things to note:

PET POLICY: Your well-behaved pets are welcome for a fee of $10 per pet, per night. Please note there may be other guests with pets on the property, so any pets you bring must get along with other animals and people.

CELL RECEPTION/INTERNET ACCESS: There is little to no cell reception on the property. Consider your stay an opportunity to disconnect from the virtual world and unwind. However, there is Wi-Fi available outside the main house if you need.

ELECTRICITY: Electricity in the cabin is via a solar generator system. There is also a 4 battery-powered lanterns inside the cabin that will sufficiently light the space and bedrooms in the evening for backup if needed.

VEHICLE ACCESS: Approximately 24 miles from Nevada City, California, the property is located about a mile down a gravel road. Four-wheel drive is required in wintertime (we are at higher elevation and frequently get snow), but the roads are accessible to any car in the warmer months.

DRINKING WATER: There is a developed spring where guests can obtain fresh drinking water 150 yards away from Radiance Cabin. Please bring your own bottles/containers.

SMOKING/FIRE SAFETY: During high fire season (summer and early fall) we must be extremely careful with fires and smoking. Smoking is allowed on the cabin decks, fire pit and picnic areas, and in your vehicle but not in the outback on trails as it is prohibited by the local forest service.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: On the property you will find many miles of developed trails and forest roads to explore. We are located only 5 miles from Malakoff Diggins State Park and close to the beautiful Yuba River and Bullard’s Bar. The small town of North San Juan is 20 minutes’ drive away and offers several restaurants, a gas station, a locally owned thrift store, and a small organic market. Nevada City and Grass Valley are approximately 45 minutes’ drive away with many options for dining and shopping. Please don’t hesitate to ask for recommendations!
