This cottage is located in the countryside of Taumarunui, North Island, where it is situated on a 400-acre farm. Exploring the grounds of the farm, guests will find wide-open fields, paddocks filled with sheep and cattle, copses of trees, a food forest, a vegetable garden, a pond, and a couple of friendly alpacas that guests can feed by hand right from the cottage's deck. With a swimmable river running right through the property, the Taumarunui Golf Club right across the road from the farm, and a variety of natural attractions and outdoor recreation venues nearby, guests will be excellently positioned to enjoy a getaway full of recreation and reconnection to nature.

Set in the King Country region of the Ruapehu district, the cottage's location is about halfway between Pureora Forest Park and Tongariro National Park, which are about an hour to the north and the south, respectively. At the former, guests will find 790 square kilometers of mountains and valleys safeguarding rainforests filled with 1,000-year-old podocarp trees. At the latter, they will find three active volcanoes, boiling mud pools, and a variety of wildlife, including brown kiwis and blue ducks. Other nearby attractions include the Whakapapa Ski Area, the Tuaroa Ski Field, the Wanganui River, the Timber Trail, and the Forgotten World Railway.

Guests will find a variety of shops and restaurants in downtown Taumarunui, which is just a five-minute drive to the south. The cottage is about three and a half hours from Auckland, where guests will find the nearest international airport.

Guests can enjoy a variety of activities right on and around the cottage's property; they can go swimming in the river that runs through it, go golfing at the Taumarunui Golf Club right across the road, and go canoeing on the Wanganui River. Farther afield, they can go skiing at the Whakapapa Ski Area and the Tuaroa Ski Field, cycling on the Timber Trail, hiking at Tongariro Crossing, scenic railcart riding on the Forgotten World Rail Trail.
