Best South Island itinerary: Twizel holiday accommodation for NZ glamping getaway
This unique, glass-roofed cabin is located near Twizel and can accommodate two guests. There is one bedroom and one full bathroom. The first bedroom has a king-size bed, resting at ground level and boasting an expansive glass roof, with a feather duvet to keep guests cool in summer and warm in winter. In the earth-roofed bathroom, guests will find a toilet, a sink, and a shower. Linens and towels are provided.
In the living area, guests will find a seating area and the kitchenette, also with an earth roof comes and with a stove, refrigerator, and dining table, as well as all the kitchenware guests may need, including an electric kettle. Free Wi-Fi is available at the property, as well as free parking on site.
Outside, there is a sunken courtyard with a stainless steel-cedar bathtub, using just pure, fresh water, sourced from a nearby spring.
There is air conditioning for the summer, as well as concrete mass, ventilation, extraction fans, and roof blinds, all helping to keep the temperature low. Central heating keeps guests warm during the cooler months. A gourmet continental breakfast is included, as well as free, on-site parking. The property offers free Wi-Fi for guests to use too. Outside, there is a luxury cedar outdoor bath tub, perfect for some stargazing.

We have contact less systems in place that have been tried and tested over the past 18months. There are no guest interactions, just you the odd rabbit or sheep and 6000 acres of fresh air! SkyScape is Covid Clean certified by Qualmark. High touch surfaces are disinfected between guests and all rooms aired. The buildings are well separated from each other.

Just 10 minutes away from Twizel, offering local salmon shops, as well as Lake Ohau, and even the Lord of the Rings Twizel Tour, there’s plenty to do. At under an hour from the property, Tekapo Springs at Lake Tekapo offers outdoor hot pools, ice skating, and snow tubing in the winter, as well as spa treatments at the day spa. Aoraki Mount Cook National Park is great for all sorts of outdoor activities, such as hiking, boat tours, and wildlife tours, as well as ski and snow tours in the winter, and air tours too.
At just under two hours away, more outdoor activities are available in Wanaka, such as a 12,000-foot sky tandem sky dive or ‘funyaking’ on the Dart River. In Omarama, guests can explore the clay cliffs and even experience a glider flight with Glide Omarama. For slightly more relaxed days, Oamaru offers plenty of culture for some sightseeing, and Queenstown and Christchurch offer anything from dining and bars to restaurants and shopping, too.
