There are benign mud volcanoes, a lake, and a trip up to the historic Maori Pa Site Whaitiripapa Pa, which leads on to historic Maori gardens. The tour ends with the hosts delicious, homemade finger food and a taste of local wines.

For some offsite adventures, guests can head to the coast and have a go at some surfing. For beginners, there are numerous reputable surf schools. Only 40 minutes drive away is Rere Falls. There are some stunning waterfalls in this area of natural beauty and it offers guests a perfect spot to enjoy the wildlife of New Zealand.
