This accommodation is located in Palmer, Alaska, a small city based in the southern portion of the state. The city lies on the banks of the Matanuska River, a large river flowing from the mountains in eastern Alaska all the way to the Knik Arm, an arm of the Cook Inlet, which eventually flows into the Gulf of Alaska. Due south is the Chugach National Forest, a large federally protected area known for its fantastic hiking and biking trails as well as for its diverse population of bird, mammal, and marine species, especially bald eagles. The city of Anchorage is down the road to the southwest, the largest city and cultural center of the state of Alaska, since about 40% of the state’s population is in Anchorage. The closest airport is here, the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, which is about an hour away from the accommodation by car.

Speaking of warmer months, the Alaska State Fair is held in Palmer in August every year and is a must-visit. Guests can head south into the Chugach National Forest and check out the wonderful flora and fauna that flourish in the region, including the bald eagle. There are more bald eagles in the park than there are in the rest of the entire continental United States.
