In addition, in just under an hour’s drive, glampers can reach Denali State Park where Byers Lake and the impressive Mount Denali, the highest peak in North America, are located. Alaska’s largest city, Anchorage, can also be reached within a two-hour drive down the Susitna River and the Willow Creek State and Nancy Lake State Recreational Areas are located around halfway down the route to Anchorage.

The river also provides a great opportunity for salmon, grayling, and rainbow trout fishing. For a quieter afternoon, glampers should head to downtown Talkeetna itself to check out the local history, shops, and restaurants. Similarly, in warmer weather, Christiansen Lake with its deep crystal clear waters is home to the best swimming in Talkeetna.
