Spacious and serene space located deep in the hardwood forest. Large and tall windows open on large kitchen / living room / dining room. At the end of long dirt road, the apt sits atop a small hill. This 3 floor apt has two bedrooms each with queen beds connected by a bathroom and a first floor kids room with four single beds. A loft has a queen bed and sitting area to watch TV. Walk to lake and organic farm to see sweet animals. Outside hot tub may be available if Grand Apartment is not rented.

The house is located at the top of a hill on a dirt road. No more that three cars have parking space. While its best to have four wheel drive, experience drivers can make it with two. The top floor has two bedrooms each with a queen bed, and a loft with two single beds. One full bathroom serves these 3 sleeping areas. The bottom floor has a bunk bed for two, a single bed, and a queen bed served by a full bathroom on the main floor above. The main floor living room is amazing. An adjacent office has a door that goes out to the deck and outside table. The fireplace is non-working. Sit in the deck and look out on the forest or take a snooze.

The Grand Apartment takes up the second portion of the structure and is completely set off from the 3+ bedroom apartment. They have first dibs on the hot tub. You may use it ($50 set up fee) if no one is renting the Grand.

TRASH. Please don’t dump on us! There is no trash collection in Big East Fork Valley. Someone has to remove the trash and take it to the dump or to town. If you do this yourself, your entire Community Fee Trash Deposit will be returned to you. If you leave any un-bagged trash in the house or trash cans, you will forfeit your Community Trash Deposit Fee. If you leave bagged trash in the outside trash receptacles, you will be charged $5 per bag for its proper disposal. This can really add up! You may contract to have your bagged trash removed by a private party (A list of trash removers is on our web-site, which is accessible to you after making your reservation).

One of the best ways to reduce the volume of your trash is to separate organic materials that we may compost to make soil for our gardens. If you are checking out on noon Sunday, come bring your usable food, drink, and spirit to the Center for Sustainable Stewardship’s Community Brunch, held every Sunday noon at the CSS Farm, 5400 Big East Fork Rd. Meet, greet, and express gratitude to the people who have worked hard to make your stay memorable. It takes a village to prepare and maintain our valley and its houses. Meet the Chief Steward and members of CSS who maintain the trails, take care of watercraft, groom the hiking trails, and care for the farm animals. And meet the team that landscape the houses, clean the rooms, prepare the laundry, and service our guests to give them the unique experiences found in the Big East Fork Valley.

So only place properly bagged garbage in garbage bins. Do not place garbage directly in large garbage receptacles unless it has been bagged. NO UNBAGGED TRASH in our large waste containers or grounds. There will be a $100 extra charge if we have to bag any trash.

Don’t place trash outside of bins making it accessible to hungry critters. Best is to put compostable organics in the black compost buckets. We LOVE composting and making soil !

Winter rule: Propane usage in excess of $100 per day will be paid by the guest. Please keep windows and doors closed in cool weather and do not raise temperature above 70 degrees. Help us keep our energy usage (and cost to our guests) sustainable!

Your stay at the house does not include access to the nearby Lakeside Retreat. Obtain permission to from the Center for Sustainable Stewardship to hike its private trail system and gain access to its Farm and lake watercraft.

If you keep to the house rules, we will do everything we do our very best to make your stay enjoyable. Violating them may be costly and quite inconvenient. Seriously.

And do let us know as soon as possible if something is broken or doesn’t work as it should. Enjoy!
