On the 30 minute scenic water taxi ride to the cabin, guests should keep an eye out for otters, whales, and other wildlife which can also be viewed from the cabin window. There is a fully equipped kitchenette where, along with the barbecue outside, guests can prepare anything from a cup of morning coffee, snacks for the day, to a delicious family dinner.

For outdoor enjoyment, guests have Adirondack chairs in private seating areas, clam rakes, a rowboat, and kayaks for no additional charge. Just a 30-minute, scenic water taxi ride from Homer, AK, MacDonald Spit is a mile long finger of ancient glacier moraine, 75 feet wide, with Kasitsna Bay and Kachemak Bay on either side. There are extreme tides which make for great clamming and tide pooling. Guests can watch the sun rise over one beach and set over the other, surrounded by spruce and alder with views of the bays, islands, and snow-capped mountains. The historic village of Seldovia is 7.5 miles down a maintained, old logging road. From Homer, guests will need to arrange for transportation by water taxi, ferry, or air.
