Guest Spotlight: Serinda Swan

Happy New Year, Glampers! We are kicking off a new year of guest spotlights with the amazing Serinda Swan. 2021 vacation ideas will be easier to choose after you read about Serinda’s glamping getaway!

This Christmas, the Canadian actress and her family wanted to “think outside the box” and experience a glamping getaway together to these stunning tents in British Columbia. We asked her to share some stories of her experience with us and can’t wait to see where she goes next—hopefully bringing her adorable French Bulldog, Buddha, along for the journey again. For Serinda Swan, hot vacations are not the be-all and end-all, especially at Christmas.

Choose three adjectives to describe the glamping site you stayed at before your trip and another three words to describe it post-stay. How did your expectations measure up to reality?

Pre-trip: Tranquil, beautiful, and relaxing.
Post-trip: Perfection, wonder, and celebration.

Who did you go glamping with, and what was your favorite memory that you made together during the stay?

This year, my family decided to “think outside the box.” Nothing would be given in boxes or bags, with bows or with ribbons; instead, we would give each other the gift of time with one another. We decided to wrap ourselves up instead, walk through the forest, tie scarves around our necks, and pull on hats as we explored the sea coast recounting the past year and telling stories. I think my favorite memory was playing crib with my family by the fire laughing and drinking wine.

What was the best part about the accommodation? How does it compare to past places you’ve stayed?

The property. Waking up to that via every more was incredible and not like anywhere else I have stayed, as its so secluded and private.

Describe to us the area around the glamping site. What do you think the perfect time of year to stay here would be, and why?

Going in the winter was lovely, because you enjoyed the fire and hot soaker tubs, but in the summer, you would be out by the pool and kayaking so honestly I think any time of the year.

Tell us one thing about your first glamping experience that surprised you and why.

It’s just as luxurious, if not more, than staying in a hotel. The staff at the property were so helpful and created the perfect environment to relax and disappear but always there if you needed them.

If you could have invited a famous celebrity (dead or alive) over to your glamping site, who would it be, and what would you have done together?

I would ask to trade the “celebrity” for my grandmother, and we would have done the exact same things…laugh, hike, play crib, and sit by the fire.

What is your ideal food item and beverage for a glamping trip, and why? If you have a special secret or recipe, please share with us—if you’re willing, of course!

Steaming hot coffee and the perfect breakfast consisting of eggs, toast, and copious amounts of avocado! Oh, and a hot Toddy!

Do you prefer a more active or more relaxing getaway? Which did you opt for at the glamping site, and what was the best related activity in the area?

Usually when I go glamping, it’s to get away and relax. I like to be in nature and explore new places, and I found that at the resort, the area has some of the best hiking I have ever done (you can hike to waterfalls or secret ocean coves—it really is quite spectacular).

Fill in the end of the sentence: “This glamping site would be the perfect place for ____________________,” and tell us why!

My birthday! Just like Christmas, my birthday is a time I like to get all the people that are important to me together. I was born in July, so the weather would be incredible, and I know all my friends and family would love this property.

Would you recommend glamping to family and friends? Do you see yourself going glamping again? Let us know why!

Of course! With glamping, you get the privacy and seclusion you are looking for, plus varying degrees of comfort you can choose from, so really, it’s a perfect way to travel.
